HairCraft gets to be here because people keep showing up for us. They book appointments, buy products, come to events, tell their friends, and give us the room to keep building something bigger. We don’t take that lightly.
We like to spread that support around. Sometimes that means putting our money behind an organization doing good work. Sometimes it’s a fundraiser, a partnership, an event, or finding a better way to handle the waste we create along the way.
There are plenty of ways to make a difference when you have a business, a space, and a whole lot of people willing to show up. We plan to keep finding them.
In The Studio
Paws for Life NC
Paws for Life rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes animals that don’t always get an easy start. Many of the dogs they take in need medical care, behavioral support, and time before they’re ready for a permanent home.
Every May, we partner with them for one of our favorite days of the year:
Sit. Stay. Slay.
Once a year, your appointment comes with adoptable dogs.
For Sit. Stay. Slay., Paws for Life NC brings a crew of dogs looking for homes to hang out outside the studio for the day. Between appointments, clients head out to meet them, play for a while, and give them plenty of attention. More than a few have ended the day with a new family.
The day raises money for the rescue through appointments, donations, raffles, and whatever else we can come up with that year. More importantly, it puts a whole lot of people in front of dogs looking for homes. Quite a few of them have found those homes because someone came in for an appointment and walked outside to say hi.
Our app gets first access to booking before the event is announced anywhere else, so app members always get first dibs on appointments for the event.

Where does everything go after your appointment?
The beauty industry creates nearly 900 pounds of waste every minute across North America, much of which can’t be processed through standard recycling systems.
Hair clippings, excess color, foils, color tubes, aerosol cans, and chemical waste are often sent straight to landfills because most recycling programs simply aren’t built to handle salon waste.
No salon operates without creating waste, but reducing our environmental impact where we can has always felt worth the extra effort to us.
Green Circle Salons
We partner with Green Circle Salons to help recover and responsibly process salon waste that would otherwise end up in landfills.
The program changes the way waste is handled throughout the studio, requiring materials to be sorted, separated, and processed differently behind the scenes instead of simply thrown away at the end of the day.
It takes more time, more effort, and more intention from the team, but reducing our environmental impact where we can has always felt worth doing.

Ongoing Partnerships
We love partnering with brands and businesses that make sense inside the world we’re building at HairCraft.
From pop-ups and product features to collaborative events and studio takeovers, we’re always interested in bringing in people, products, and experiences that add something fun, thoughtful, or unexpected to the space.
A lot of our favorite collaborations start because we genuinely like what someone is creating and want to share it with the people walking through our doors.
Arcane Glow Esthetics is a Durham-based esthetics studio that takes skin seriously without making the experience feel clinical.
Treatments are customized in a way that makes sense for real life, not just what looks good on paper. There’s a strong focus on results, paired with a slower, more intentional approach that still feels relaxing while you’re in it.
The balance of effectiveness, education, and experience fits naturally with the kind of care we value inside the studio.
A makeup team known for soft, romantic looks that still feel recognizable to the person wearing them.
They specialize in on-location services for weddings, events, photoshoots, and the kind of days where everyone suddenly needs to be ready at the exact same time. The overall experience feels calm, collaborative, and surprisingly easy to settle into.
Their work has a softness to it that fits naturally alongside the kind of beauty we gravitate toward at HairCraft.

Everyday Impact
Where we spend our money matters to us, too.
Every product line we bring into HairCraft is cruelty-free, with plenty of vegan options and a preference for brands making smarter choices around packaging and sustainability. But we look past the bottle too. We pay attention to the companies behind the products, where they put their money, what they publicly stand behind, and whether we feel good about supporting them with ours.
That has meant saying no to products we liked and walking away from brands we’d previously carried. There will always be another great shampoo. We’d rather find it than ask you to leave your values at the door when you spend your money here.
We know there’s no such thing as perfect consumption, and we’re not interested in pretending we’ve somehow figured it out. Sometimes there isn’t a perfect option. Sometimes there isn’t even a particularly good one. We just think that when there’s a better choice available, it’s worth making it.
